See also: dad sitting across from his 8-ish-year-old son, playing on his phone for AN ENTIRE MEAL while his kid stares sadly and silently into space. I've seen multiple of those in the past couple months and it enrages me to no end. Thanks for voicing all that you do!
I saw this recently on a nice little walk outdoors recently... came back to my car, and I saw this family coming in my direction. These little kids BOUNDING on the trail, so excited! Loud, jumping - BEING KIDS.
And both parents, necks craned, staring at their phones. That's stayed with me for weeks.
Yes! It amazes me how many parents dive headfirst into their screens or spend most of their time with their kids snapping photos as if they couldn't be bothered with the childhood going on under their noses, they'd rather make it another thing to scroll through.
It's excruciating to watch. I love that you raged this message out. And woman, the addictive nature of these things in our hands is gross and infuriating and I want a dumb phone... If only some of my closest friends didn't live in the US I would get one immediately and never use a smartphone again. But then we couldn't communicate 😭 but yes. I hate it. No phone by my bed. No phones at the dinner table. No phones after 8pm. And when my daughter was little my heart used to break for all those children in buggies on buses or in the park or the library or in playgroups being completely ignored by their parents or caregivers for their phones. I hated it so much. They inevitably ended up playing with me and my daughter... Man I'm glad that time has passed for me. Keep raging queen 👑
I fuckin’ love you Lindsay. You’re amazing and I couldn’t agree more. Thank you for saying alllllll this important shit without holding back!!!!!!!! Our children are so precious and innocent and fewer and fewer people are present, loving parents. I see it constantly and it makes me ill. I see the hurt in their eyes as they stare defeatedly at their parents’ glowing eyes fixated on their phones. It’s absolutely fucking heartbreaking.

Riteous Appreciation.
So much to agree with, so much to say… loudly, with high fives so hard we miss each other and sloppily slap ourselves instead.
I’m disgusted (consistently by this shit), and also so grateful for your voice. 🔥🎯
Thank you for reading. High fives back.
